Privacy Policy

How we handle information for fire departments, donors, and visitors. The short version: we collect only what we need to run the service, and we never sell your data.

Who we are

Station Donations is operated by Station Board LLC (“Station Donations,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). We provide fundraising websites and donation tools for volunteer fire departments and similar organizations, including our website at stationdonations.com and our Donate Anywhere mobile app for in-person (Tap to Pay) donations.

This policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and the choices you have. It applies to fire departments and other organizations that use our service (“Stations”), to people who donate or buy tickets (“Donors”), and to anyone who visits our site or apps.

Information we collect

We collect the following categories of information:

  • Account information. When a Station signs up, we collect names, email addresses, phone numbers, organization details, and login credentials.
  • Donation and payment information. When a Donor gives money or buys a ticket, we collect the amount, the related Station or fundraiser, and contact details the Donor provides (such as name and email for a receipt). Card numbers and other sensitive payment details are collected and processed directly by Stripe, our payment processor — we do not store full card numbers on our servers.
  • In-person donations (Donate Anywhere). When a donation is taken through the Donate Anywhere app using Tap to Pay, the card is read by Apple and Stripe. We receive the donation amount and a transaction record, not the donor's raw card data.
  • Content you create. Fundraiser pages, posts, images, and other content that a Station publishes through our tools.
  • Usage and device information. Log data such as IP address, browser or device type, pages viewed, and approximate location, collected automatically when you use our site or apps.
  • Communications. Messages you send us, including support requests and feedback.

How we use information

We use information to:

  • Provide, operate, and maintain the service, including processing donations and ticket sales;
  • Create and manage Station accounts and Donor receipts;
  • Send transactional messages (receipts, account notices) and, where permitted, updates a Station sends to its own supporters;
  • Provide customer support and respond to your requests;
  • Detect, prevent, and address fraud, abuse, and security issues;
  • Improve and develop new features; and
  • Comply with legal obligations.

Payments and Stripe

All payments are processed by Stripe, Inc. We use Stripe Connect so that donations and ticket sales go directly to each Station's connected account and bank account. Station Donations does not hold Donor or Station funds. Your use of payment features is also subject to Stripe's privacy policy and the Stripe Connected Account Agreement.

How we share information

We share information only as described below. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not sell or rent donor lists.

  • With Stations. Donor information related to a donation or ticket purchase is shared with the Station that received it, so the Station can manage its supporters and send receipts.
  • With service providers. We share information with vendors who help us run the service — for example Stripe (payments), our hosting and database providers, and email delivery providers — only as needed to perform their work for us.
  • For legal reasons. We may disclose information if required by law, subpoena, or other legal process, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Station Donations, our users, or the public.
  • Business transfers. If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction.

Cookies and analytics

We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you logged in, remember preferences, and understand how the service is used. You can control cookies through your browser settings, though some features may not work without them.

Data retention

We keep information for as long as needed to provide the service and for legitimate business or legal purposes, such as recordkeeping for donations and tax or accounting requirements. When information is no longer needed, we delete or anonymize it.

Data security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect information. Payment card data is handled by Stripe under PCI-DSS standards. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Your choices and rights

You may access or update your account information by logging into your account or contacting us. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or limit the use of your personal information. Donors who receive emails from a Station can unsubscribe using the link in those messages. To make a request, contact us at the address below.

Children's privacy

Our service is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above and, for material changes, provide additional notice where appropriate.
